NOT ALWAYS A BED OF ROSES

Communication is a very important part of our life. For our well-being we need to keep regular contact with the family and friends. Mobiles phone and local sim cards are a great asset but we are still at the mercy of the phone companies through hefty charges.
Emailing is a wonderful invention assuming that one is a computer literate as well as a technician.
I compare the whole scenario to a child with a sweet. When he has it, its contentment, when it is taken away it is shear frustration.
Picture the scene: the typing is the easy part. Downloading pictures from the camera a little more testing; loosing the pictures somewhere in the computer is commonplace. The frustration mounts. Bill Gates is low in my estimation. Such a manipulating individual. “Rubbish in, rubbish out” suggests Chris. Fighting talk! He usually ends up sorting out the mess as he has more patience and is more technically minded.
We can share a bed but not a computer.
Armed with a loaded memory stick we go in search of an Internet Café. Which can be elusive at times, and not always easy.
Each country has its own ideas of electronic mailing activities. Some make it easy, some are indifferent, some make it difficult other are totally controlling, but one absolute certainty is that each country has its one language and keyboard; funny that! Finding @ can be a problem The prices differ too; from cheap to expensive.
Tunisia reads all emails in and out. If they contain certain key words with they disapprove of they scramble the message. It is cheap but it takes 2 hrs to book a flight ticket.
Imagine Italy of all countries applying the European law of Terrorism vis a vis Internet. Passports must be presented and photocopied. A tiresome activity for the operator and expensive for the customer.
Spain seems to have it pitched correctly; it is very cheap and fast.
We were spoiled in our Turkish marina and some places during our Eastern tour. WIFI was available and we had broadband 24 hrs on the boat.
In Minorca we bought a pay as you go G3 dongle to plug into the computer (Internet connection via Vodafone) After the initial teething problems we were in business but as it turned out there was no reception in the bay we were moored in. As you can see below the computer was taken for a ride around the corner were the connection was instant but the sun too bright hence the blanket:

G3 is working well when we have a telephone signal. Use it as much as you like to let us know all your news but only text on our gmail address
Blog updates still require an Internet café
To keep in touch is no mean feat
Emails on gmail are always welcomed….
